He died in a motor vehicle accident. He attended Syracuse University and graduated from the Eastman Kodak Machinists Apprentice Program. He treated his two stepsons, Thomas and James O'Connor, as his own sons and considered their families his family. All 8 grandchildren called him Poppa Ken. Pauline Ruminski, Garfield Heights OH, was his companion for the last 2 years of his life.

Garfield Heights, OH: Formerly of Williamson, NY. Died unexpectedly on September 16, 2008 at age 63. Predeceased by his father Mason and his beloved wife of 26 years, Sally. Survived by his mother Viola Grace (Bickford); his children Victoria (Kevin) Brownell, Kenneth Michael Vary, Thomas (Diane) O'Connor and James (Jennifer) O'Connor; his sister Nancy (Al) Roberts; brother Roger (Sandee) and sister Sue (Michael) Anderson; special friend Pauline Ruminski of Garfield Heights, OH; 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson.
Ken attended Syracuse University and was a graduate of Eastman Kodak Machinists Apprentice program and worked for Kodak for 30 years, retiring in 1996. Ken enjoyed his retirement following NASCAR and spending time with his family.
Family and friends may call Friday, Sept. 19th, 7-9PM and Saturday 12-1PM at Young Funeral Home, 4025 W. Main St., Williamson where a Funeral Service will be held Saturday at 1:00PM. Interment at Lakeview Cemetery, Pultneyville immediately following. Memorials to Lupus Foundation, Genesee Valley Chapter, 500 Helendale Road, Rochester, NY 14609.
