Removed to Ogdensburg, NY in May 1847, read law with Myers & Baldwin and was admitted to practice December 1849, and has been in Ogdensburg to the present time. He held various town offices and was district attorney for nine years. He was at various times partner with Amos Reed, Edward Clark, Geo. Morris, Horace Russell, and lastly with John W. Stone. |

Note: Bennett H. Vary was born in Onondaga County in 1824 and came to Ogdensburg in 1847 where he read law with Myers & Baldwin and was admitted to practice in 1849. He held various town offices and was district attorney from 1867-1882. He married Emma A. Witherell, daughter of the late Hon. Thomas D. Witherell of De Peyster in 1853.
