They met at St. Lawrence University, from which they graduated in 1952. She became a secretary in New York City for Chappell & Co. music publishers, and in Nov 1952 Lowell went into the Air Force. They were married upon his graduation from flying training in April 1954. After 3 months in Pasadena TX, they were transferred to Ft. Worth TX in June 1954 where they remained. Louanne spends much time on all branches of her genealogy. She is survived by sons Paul (Gloria) of Logan, Utah; Art of Provo, Utah; daughter Heather (Bill) Bodine of Orem, Utah; and son David of Dover, Del.; 11 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and sisters Lyla Beth Hunter (Dr. John O.) of Hornell N.Y., and Coralynn Swerdfeger (Dave) of Phoenix, Ariz. Louanne was born in 1931 in North Tonowanda NY, the daughter of Harland and Bessie Brown. After her growing up years in New York state, and graduation from Newfane High School, she went on to graduate with a Bachelors in Psychology in 1952 from St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y. where she was active in student government and ADPi sorority. In April 1954 she married Lowell Arthur Barrett in Oswego, N.Y., and they were soon off to Carswell Air Force Base, Fort Worth, Texas for the B36, and B52 programs There, they joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon) in 1960, which she later said was the highlight of her life, aside from having her family. In March 1962 she and Lowell were sealed for "time and eternity" in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 1964 they were assigned to Dover, AFB, for the C133's, C141's, and finally C5A's. As the wife of an Air Force pilot and Squadron Commander, she often held down the fort with five children during Lowell's long absences. The Gospel of Jesus Christ and her family were the focus of her life. She had a great love for her Savior Jesus Christ, and her life reflected her desire to follow Him. She often expressed her joy in eternal families. A gospel student, she always had a desire to learn and study more. She held various church callings, and enjoyed working in the Relief Society, with bake sales, rummage sales, fundraisers, working with youth, with music, teaching Gospel Doctrine, and Early Morning Seminary. She said, "Church service has been a joy." A genealogist, she taught Human Relations and Family Research at Del Tech and was a Family History Center director, and worker. She was politically active. She loved to sing, and had a beautiful voice. She opened the doors of her home to anyone in need. She will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and friend. A Life Celebration will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel, 237 West Lebanon Rd, Dover, Del. on November 1st at 11:00 am. Friends are invited to visit with Louanne's family just prior to the service from 9:30-11:00. Interment at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Camden, Del.
