He died from injuries sustained in a one-vehicle accident in the town of Champion. He was on his way home from doing an estimate for a job......he was less than a mile from his house and driving his new truck he had just picked up the night before so the first time out of the garage. Harold was the ninth of nineteen children born to Merritt and Helena Fitzgerald Waite. He was educated in local schools and served in the US Army from 1959-1961. Following his honorable discharge, he worked for Crown Zellerbach in Carthage for a few years. Harold later became a union carpenter, working for several construction companies in the area. He continued to do carpentry work following his retirement. Harold was a member of the Carpenters Union, Watertown. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and four wheeling.
