She was born in the the town of Alexandria on the old farm home between Flessis and Redwood. She spent 14 months in the south with her husband during the Civil War when he was encamped near Washington, D.C. In 1907, a year after the death of her husband, Elizabeth went to Syracuse to live with her daughter, Mrs. D. B. Arnold.
