Death | Hugh graduated from Menominee High School in 1942 and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Following his Army service, he received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Michigan College of Mining and Technology (Michigan Tech) in 1952. He worked for various companies in the Iron Mountain/Norway area and moved back to Menominee in 1975, working at various companies in the area. He was a City Council member for the first ward in Menominee from 2012 to 2016. Hugh was a Past Master of the Masonic Lodges in both Norway and Menominee, a member and recipient of the Meritorious Service Award of the Valley of Marquette Scottish Rite Consistory, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. He also was a charter member of the Menominee Unit of U.S. Power Squadron and a past Sea Scout leader. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, sailing, reading, and spending time in the woods. |
